When I first started taking pictures in studio, I was lost. The majority of my knowledge about lighting was going outside when the sun was up. I never really had one person that could explain the differences in light modifiers, (ie umbrella, softbox, beauty dish, etc) so I wasn’t really aware of what to use, and the situation in which to use it.
My studio lighting workshop is something I feel I needed when I decided to take photography seriously, but never new where to start. Like most, when I started I didn’t have a ton of money to make mistakes in purchasing the incorrect equipment, but I didn’t know what equipment I needed. WE COVER THAT! I’ll hand you a best bang for your buck list of equipment I’ve been exposed to that ranges from $100 to well over $3,000. You decide where you fall in that range, and you go from there.
I never knew what I should be using to get the results that I saw in magazines, or even on billboards. WE COVER THAT! We will go through the major light modifiers, what those modifiers are known for, and what to look for on your subject to determine which modifier is the best for the job.
This workshop isn’t to show you how to use your camera. I wont be instructing you individually on what buttons to press to get your shutter speed faster, or even to stop down on the aperture side. I’ll show you how to paint a picture with light. You should come in knowing how to use your camera, and go out knowing how to produce professional quality imagery.
What you need:
This will be a digital SLR lighting workshop. So bring your camera. This workshop will take place in my studio, with a model, and you WILL be taking pictures. Also bring something to write with and something to write on. We’ll supply some pizza and soda for lunch.
The workshop is scheduled to last 3 hours from 10am-1pm but may go longer depending on YOU!
